My latest project is a podcast where I read to you from a book in the public domain. This project stems from my desire to create something that might be a resource for folks struggling with quarantine and social isolation due to the pandemic we are all facing. I thought about what I might be able to give, what might feel nice to folks, and came up with this idea. I love reading aloud, and being read to. Some of my most treasured moments in life, where I felt safe and connected and cared for were ones where I was being read to or was reading to folks I cared about. My hope is that this ongoing effort will help me feel connected to folks in my communities, and be a resource for folks who are struggling to cope.
If you are struggling, I also want to direct you to my Emergency Emotional Safety Plan as a resource and to my #DailyCoping threads round up page, which has all the Twitter threads I have done on a variety of coping strategies that I use in my daily life.
I did a Twitter poll and the book that won is The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. You can find the entire text of this at Project Gutenberg.
