Summer 2018 Releases I’m Anticipating

Here are some books I’m excited about that are coming out June-August 2018

June Releases

  • Of Echoes Born by ‘Nathan Burgoine (June 1): I’m so excited for this collection of queer short stories by a writer whose work I enjoy a lot!
  • The Stairs Between Us by Elizabeth Barone (June 4): I’m interested in this contemporary m/f romance with a divorce couple co-parenting and living in the same building. Looking forward to seeing what this arc is like.
  • Bruja Born by Zoraida Córdova (June 5): This is a sequel to Labyrinth Lost, so I better get on reading that book before it comes out! I’ve heard wonderful things about this witchy YA series.
  • Your Heart Will Grow by Chace Verity (June 5): This is a guard-prisoner m/f fantasy romance with mermaids, a pansexual heroine and a trans man hero. Definitely excited for this book!
  • The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang (June 5): This is one of the only romances centering an autistic MC that was written by an autistic author. I’ve been anticipating this for many months.
  • The Art of French Kissing by Brianna Shrum (June 5): I’m excited for this cooking contest enemies to lovers contemporary YA m/f romance!
  • What Happens in Summer by Caridad Piñeiro (June 5) This second chance summer m/f romance looks right up my alley!
  • Running with Lions by Julian Winters (June 7): Really looking forward to this queer contemporary YA friends to lovers m/m sports romance.
  • To Have and To Hold by Tamryn Eradani (June 11): I really enjoyed book one in this BDSM m/m romance series and am eagerly anticipating the next volume!
  • Thrown off Track by Tamsen Parker (June 11): I’ve been waiting for this to release as a stand alone novella so I can recommend it to people because the demisexual rep resonated so much and meant the world to me.
  • A Beverly Jenkins Romance Collection: You Sang to Me\Holiday Heat\I’ll be Home for Christmas\Hawaii Magic\Overtime Love (June 11): 5 contemporary romances by the amazing Beverly Jenkins for 7 bucks, yes I’m in.
  • A Quick and Easy Guide to They/Them Pronouns by Archie Bongiovanni and Tristan Jimerson (June 12): Looking forward to reading this comics guide to my pronouns, hoping it will be a great resource.
  • After the Gold by Racheline Maltese and Erin McRae (June 12): I fell hard for this writing duo’s work recently and am looking forward to seeing what they will do with an ice skating contemporary romance.
  • The House That Lou Built by Mae Respicio (June 12): This middle grade book about a Filipina girl who wants to build a tiny house so she can escape her large Filipino family looks so good!
  • Damaged Goods by Talia Hibbert (June release TBA): Pregnant heroine hiding from abusive husband; Moroccan-Italian hero who owns a café, second chance romance. Have not skipped any of Hibbert’s books, not gonna start.
  • Not the Girls You’re Looking For by Aminah Mae Safi (June 19): This YA sounds amazing; I’ve heard wonderful things about how real and messy it is, and how central friendship is to the story.
  • Witchmark by CL Polk (June 19): I have been anticipating this queer witchy magical romance forever and I am so excited that it’s almost out!
  • Get Over Me by Lina Langley (projected release June 19): Really looking forward to this age gap parenting my much younger baby sister for my POTUS dad, with our trusted bodyguard m/m romance! Bodyguard/protectee + coparenting is totally up my alley.,
  • Trans Like Me: Conversations for All of Us by CN Lester (June 19 in the US): I’ve been waiting for this book to be available in the US and I’m excited to have it on my kindle soon!
  • A Taste of Pleasure by Chloe Blake (June 19): Looking forward to this contemporary foodie m/f romance between a chef and a single dad who owns the restaurant.
  • Yes, You Are Trans Enough: My Transition from Self-Loathing to Self-Love by Mia Violet (June 21): I was so excited to hear that Mia was writing this, and I can’t wait to read it!
  • Cherish Me by Farrah Rochon (June 25): I love Rochon’s romances and have been enjoying this series. Definitely need to read this romance centered on saving a marriage on the rocks.
  • The Baker Thief by Claudie Arsenault (June 26): I’ve been excited about this book forever! Aromantic MC! Resolves to a QPP! Baker who is also a thief! Fat MC who is depicted on the gorgeous cover as actually fat!
  • A Thousand Beginnings and Endings ed by Ellen Oh and Elsie Chapman (June 26): This anthology of stories reimagining Asian folklore and mythology has an amazing lineup of authors and looks wonderful!
  • It Takes Two by Jenny Holiday (June 26): Holiday is queen of the rom coms and this one with dueling bachelor and bachelorette parties sounds delightful.
  • Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse (June 26): I have loved this author’s short fiction, and have heard that this dystopian story centering a Dinétah monster hunter is fabulous.

July Releases

  • Guarding His Heart by Synithia Williams (July 1): Excited for this contemporary m/f romance between a single dad basketball player and a photographer.
  • Opalescence by Roan Hart (July 4): Non-binary mermaid MC on the run. Need I say more?
  • Unfit to Print by KJ Charles (July 10): In this historical m/m romance, an upright lawyer and illicit bookseller get together to solve a mystery.
  • Criminal Intentions: The Cardigans by Cole McCade (July 10): I loved this first installment of this police serial contemporary m/m romance. The writing is gorgeous & the characterization blew me away.
  • A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian (July 10): Cannot resist this historical m/m romance where opposites attract and collaborate to steal dirty paintings.
  • Mr. Hotshot CEO by Jackie Lau (July 10): She teaches him how to enjoy his vacation. Yep this contemporary m/f romance is right up my alley.
  • No Man of Woman Born by Ana Mardoll (July 10): This is a gorgeous collection of short stories in which transgender and non-binary characters subvert and fulfill gendered prophecies. (These prophecies recognize and acknowledge each character’s gender, even when others do not.)
  • If a Butterfly Don’t Fly by Mell Eight (July 10): Music and faeries and queerness, sign me up.
  • Concerto in Chroma Major by Naomi Tajedler (July 12): Stained glass artist with synesthesia falls for a pianist in this f/f romance. Yes I need to read this book.
  • Kindling for the Heart by Karen Legasy (July 15): I really like snowed in romances, so I’m looking forward to trying this f/f contemporary romance by a new to me author.
  • Unconditionally Mine by Nadine Gonzalez (July 17): This forced proximity contemporary m/f romance looks right up my alley!
  • Hullmetal Girls by Emily Skrutskie (July 17): Cyborgs! Angry girls! Pansexual rep! Aroace rep! Yeah I gotta try this one.
  • Over & Over Again by Cole McCade (July 23): I’ve been eagerly anticipating this contemporary age gap m/m romance set on a goat farm for so long!
  • The Coyote’s Bride by Holley Trent (July 23): After reading snippets from this series, I am definitely looking forward to this marriage of convenience shifter romance.
  • Annex by Rich Larson (July 24): I hear that this post-apocalypse story opens with the trans woman heroine raiding a pharmacy for estrogen, and that she’s an awesome heroine, so I need to check this out.
  • A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole (July 31): I am so excited to read the final version of this wonderful Scotland-set romance with sword making and surprise royalty!
  • Lovely Dark & Deep by Justina Chen (July 31): I adore this author’s work, and am looking forward to reading this YA about a girl who acquires photo-sensitivity.
  • Free Fall by Emma Barry and Genevieve Turner (July 31) This is book 5 in a series of historical romances centering astronauts that I completely adore. This one has a couple with a shotgun marriage where she’s trying to win his heart.
  • The Descent of Monsters by JY Yang (July 31): This is book 3 in the Tensorate series, so I need to read the first two before I tackle it, but I’m excited to have this out in the world!

August Releases

  • Ruin of Stars by Linsey Miller (Aug 1): Genderfluid MC! Sequel to Mask of Shadows. I have heard such great things and I’m so excited.
  • Finding Yvonne by Brandy Colbert (Aug 7): I have heard such good things about this YA centering a teen girl violinist who gets unexpectedly pregnant.
  • Down with Love by Kate Meader (Aug 7): Divorce attorney and wedding planner. This contemporary m/f romance sounds up my alley, and the description made me want to give Meader another chance.
  • Criminal Intentions: Junk Shop Blues by Cole McCade (Aug 10): I am excited to read the second installment of this police serial contemporary m/m romance. I heart these characters so much.
  • You Have the Right to Remain Fat by Virgie Tovar (Aug 14): I love Tovar’s writing and this book is bound to be an essential fat liberation text.
  • Fresh Ink ed by Lamar Giles (Aug 14): This anthology looks really wonderful; the author line-up is seriously stellar!
  • Under the Midnight Sun by Lore Graham (Aug 15): This fantasy rivals to lovers m/m romance looks great.
  • To Be Honest by Maggie Ann Martin (Aug 21): Fat rep with fat girl MC on the cover! This YA s getting a lot of praise from fat readers.
  • Pinups: A Collection of M/M Vignettes by Cole McCade (Aug 21): I love McCade’s writing and am really looking forward to seeing what he will do with short vignettes.
  • State of Grace by Rachael Lucas (Aug 21): I’ve been excited for this ownvoices YA romance centering an autistic heroine for so long!
  • Darius the Great is Not Okay by Adib Khorram (Aug 28): Geeky Iranian American teen with depression visits his grandfather in Iran. I’ve heard such great things about this queer YA.
  • Stripped by Zoey Castille (Aug 28) Contemporary m/f romance with a schoolteacher heroine, stripper hero, and awesome meet-cute over a laundry mix-up!
  • Toil and Trouble: 15 Tales of Women and Witchcraft ed by Tess Sharpe (Aug 28): Witch stories YA anthology with amazing authors!
  • Harbor Me by Jacqueline Woodson (Aug 28): This MG about kids supporting each other by one of my favorite authors looks wonderful!
  • Mirage by Somaiya Daud (Aug 28): Ownvoices fantasy YA with court intrigue, body doubles, and poetry! I’ve heard such amazing things about this book.
